  • Ling Cod is not really cod, but a member of the Greenling family
  • Available fresh or frozen (FAS)
  • Long-line caught product
  • An Oceanwise choice
  • Some meat may have a greenish tinge to the flesh, this is regarded as especially sweet and cooks up white
  • Its white, moist, lean meat is considered excellent for fish and chips or as the centre of the plate
  • Excellent for portioning, steaking or filleting

Handling & Storage

  • Keep product well iced and store in cooler between 1º to 4º C
  • Icing properly around fish and in belly cavity will extend shelf life of fish
  • Avoid leaving product sitting in ice melt. Re-ice daily.
  • Minimum shelf life is 5 days from delivery

Available fresh March to November. Available frozen all year round.

Flavour/Texture Profile

  • Mild flavour
  • Medium texture

Cooking Tips

  • Very moist and lean fish
  • Especially good “en papillotte”, sautéed, fried or steamed
  • Excellent substitute for Halibut, Pollock, Pacific Cod or other white fish
